Debt Captial Markets Overview 2022
In 2021 the markets priced $1.7 trillion of new debt. Blaylock Van completed a record year of underwriting 80 deals. Total notional amount of debt reached over $168 billion for Blaylock Van.
Blaylock Van’s spectrum of deals involved maturities ranging from 1 to 40 years, and ratings from BB to AA+. A significate number of our deals included liability management and M&A funding.
A few landmark transactions included; Apple, Bank of America, JPMorgan, Thermo Fisher, TD Bank, Royal Bank of Canada, UBS, Deutsche Bank.
In addition to participating in a record number of debt deals, Blaylock Van was a joint lead manager for Morgan Stanley and Citigroup. Citigroup, which typically serves as a sole lead bookrunner on all of their transactions, mandated Blaylock Van, along with three other diversity firms, as joint-lead managers. Morgan Stanley appointed Blaylock Van, along with a number of other diversity firms, as joint book runners, in a senior unsecured debt transaction.
Looking forward to 2022, Blaylock Van is expecting approximately $1.2 trillion in debt issuance, in line with overall street estimates. Impacting debt volume for this year, will of course be M&A activity, and balance sheet management.
